They less frequently have antibiotics, live with less sanitized food, and live with little to no antibacterial house cleaning products.
In short, their immune systems have practice attacking bacteria, they know what to do with a foreign entity when it enters the body, unlike the pampered immune systems of richer neighborhoods.
As a side note, many believe that allergies are also due to this. As people become more urban and sanitized, the body overreacts when something comes into its system, causing the allergic reaction.

Because they are exposed to diseases and infections on a more regular basis, the body is able to build up a wider biological defense against them. The opposite is actually becoming a problem (rich kids being brought up in a super clean house) because these kids aren’t exposed to ANY diseases, as soon as they leave home they come down with about a billion diseases.
