white blood cells will proliferate in response to viral/bacterial threat. they are within a certain range so you don’t have too little or too many. If your blood work shows everything in normal ranges, then you are fine. If you get over colds/flu, cuts heal normally, your immune system is functioning normally. Just continue to eat healthy foods/fluids, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol(lg amts) and any other abuse to your body, Exercise is great also. When your immune system doesn’t function well, you stay sick, or get better w antibiotics, then get sick again. So, you can’t make it better. There are medications to enhance function w immune deficiency syndromes, like gammagard, carrimune etc. People w cancer and others, HIV, have healthy immune systems, but can be overworked and then it becomes dysfunctional.
