Before I give some suggestions on what to eat or not to eat, I believe some get sick because they do a poor job avoiding things that weaken their immune system. Here are some things that lower/weaken your immune system.
1) Toxins: Most people today have excess accumulation of toxins and waste material in their bodies causing their body to be acidic and adding stress to their immune system function. The two main reasons for this is
a) People are putting huge amounts of toxins (mostly unknowingly) in their bodies on a regular basis and
b) their elimination channels are clogged, slow or sluggish.
c) toxins like "junk" food, medications(drugs), sugars, excess alcohol, allergens all stress your immune system, thus making it weak and unable to fight the germs when exposed to them.
2) Nutritional Deficiency:
When your body lacks nutrition, you will have a weak immune system.
Since our bodies can not produce nutrients needed for optimal health, quality food plays a major factor in keeping our cells healthy and our immune system strong. Food not only provides energy to your body, but all the nutrients that are essential for a healthy immune system.
3) Lack of drinking healthy water:
Dehydration means the cells just simply do not have enough fluid. Dehydration cause medical problems including pain, arthritis, asthma, and allergies, among other medical issues. It can affect your energy and your sleep, and the ability to get toxins/waste material out of the body.
4) Lack of physical activity:
Lack of regular, moderate exercise appears to slow down cleansing the body of certain toxins and waste products
5) Lack of sufficient rest:
lack of sleep will stress your immune system and thus increase the risk of catching a bug.
6) Chronic stress
People who are under chronic stress have lower than normal white blood cell counts, are more vulnerable to colds and other viruses and take longer to recover from them. They are more likely to experience more severe symptoms than people who are not under a great deal of stress.
As you may know, it is a challenge today to find foods that are mineral rich without added chemicals that are toxic.
The good news is it is possible to find healthy foods that are rich in vitamins, mineral, photonutrients, ect. for you body.
A place to start is looking for raw and organically grown fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Here is a sampling.
Vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, collard greens, and spinach are the great source of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fiber,
Fruits (like blueberries, bananas , acai, and mangoes.) are good sources of antioxidants and phytonutrients
Proteins containing amino acids aids in the growth and repair of your immune system. Some protein sources can be chlorella , eggs, organic meat and poultry, fish especially those high in Omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, trout and tuna.
Medicinal Mushrooms such as Shiitake, Reishi, Maitake, and Coriolus Versicolor (turkey tail) are wonderful for building your immune system up.
Drinks like Wheatgrass, Aloe vera juice, green tea, and white teas are excellent drink choices to boost your immune system. Holy tea is my favorite, since it also does a great job in cleansing my body and maintaining a healthy weight.
Whole grains like brown rice, millet, buckwheat, oats, and barley are also a valuable source of the vitamins, minerals and fiber that are an essential part of keeping the immune system healthy. Fiber helps cleanse the colon of toxins and helps prevent intestinal infections.
I may suspect you are too busy or dont have the money to eat this kind of food. If true, just take the super green food l "Better than Greens" Health Food loaded with all the nutrition you need!
It is also important to avoid "bad" foods ("unprocessed" and "unrefined") that will weaken your immune system.
Here is some suggestions:
Sugar contains no nutrients. Excessive sugar intake can deplete your body of several vitamins and minerals. Sugar impairs the ability of white blood cells to sweep up and kill bacteria. It also robs the body of key nutrients such as zinc that is vital for the immune function. Sugars food to avoid include soda pop, candy, many cereals, and ice cream.
Coffee
Caffeine is a diuretic that contributes to the body’s loss of important nutrients, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. The acid in coffee eats away the villi of the small intestine, reducing their effectiveness in supporting nutrient assimilation.
Alcohol (when consumed in excess), is a poison to every system of your body. It depresses the nervous system, inhibits the bone marrow’s ability to regenerate blood cells, is toxic to the liver, depletes B-vitamins, and is dehydrating.
With the advent of pesticides, herbicides, artificial fertilizer and green harvesting, our fruits and vegetables lack vital nutrients. Today, it is necessary that our diet will need supplements to the food for the immune system.
